Determination Of An Appropriate Selection Criteria For Growth Composition In Charolais
A total of 3994 carcass records representing 170 sires were used to determine an appropriate lean-related trait to be used in a genetic improvement program. Lean yield (LY) was predicted using carcass weight (CW), ribeye area (REA) and fat thickness (FAT) and used to calculate other composite traits: lean carcass weight (LW) and 3 variants of lean growth rate (LGRl, LGR2 and LGR.3).

Genetic Improvement Of Beef Production Traits By Performance Testing Beef Bulls In France
Genetic correlations between central performance tests (CPT) and progeny tests were estimated in Limousine and Charolais breeds using bulls that were successively performance and progeny tested in France : 113 out of 587 Limousine bulls with a positive performance test and 60 (30 top ranking and 30 lower ranking) out of 5 10 Charolais bulls were used.
